Rafael Luistro Garcia, 70, Remembered for His Humor, Church Involvement

Enjoyed long career with AT&T after emigrating from the Phillippines.

Rafael Luistro Garcia, 70, died Dec. 26.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1943 in Manila, graduated from University of Santo Thomas, was a pharmaceutical sales rep for Pfizer, Philippines. He immigrated to the US with his wife and had a successful career at AT&T.

He is survived by his wife Avelina Garcia, and four children and seven grandchildren; son Tony Garcia, wife Chris, son Justyn; daughter MaryAnne, husband Dave, daughters Karis and Hannah; daughter Maria Nina, husband Mike, children Michael and Madison; daughter Michelle, husband Mike, sons Ethan and Evan.

Rafael loved to be with family and friends and had an incredible sense of humor bringing smiles to all who crossed his path. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, a Knight of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister, Volunteer at the Carrier Clinic, CCD teacher, and Religious board member.

Funeral services were held Monday at Hillsborough Funeral Home, followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to: The American Heart Association and/or Newark Beth Israel Hospital.
