Obituary: Amy Wry Gibbons, 57, School Teacher

Funeral Mass scheduled for Saturday at Mary Mother of God R.C. Church in Hillsborough.

Devoted mother and wife, Amy Louise Wry Gibbons, 57, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on January 28 after a long illness.  
  
Born in Tacoma, WA, Amy grew up in Convent Station, NJ and attended Marymount University in Arlington, VA, graduating with a BA in Education after which she began a career in Washington, DC and later New York City.  She met her husband Jimmy in 1983 and they married in 1984. Raising three sons, Amy lived in Hillsborough since 1992 and after her children came of age, she went back to college, became certified as a teacher and worked in the public school system there. 
  
Amy was an amazing mother, raising three fine boys to honorable manhood. They were her proudest accomplishment and her spirit will live on in them.  All who loved Amy knew her to be a generous, compassionate and energetic woman. Amy's extended family was precious to her. She knew no finer time than that spent in the company of her sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. Selfless, determined and hard working, Amy also took great pleasure in reading, music, travel, playing tennis and visiting the beach. 
  
Amy was predeceased her mother Nancy Lyden Wry and is survived by her husband Jimmy of Hillsborough, a son James of Jersey City and twin boys Jeffrey and Jonathan both living at home.

She is also survived by her father Dr. Paul Wry and his wife Terry of Denville, NJ, brothers Paul Wry and his wife Pat of Bernardsville, NJ and Brian Wry and his wife Beverly of Los Angeles, Ca, sisters Alesa Marshall and her husband Tim of Cumming Georgia, Brigid Clifford and her husband Ronald of Glen Ridge, NJ and Maria Freymann and her husband Peter of Jackson, WY. She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews. 
  
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 So. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ on Friday Januray 31 from 2-4 and 6-8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Basking Ridge, NJ.
