Alliance Welcomes Mayor of Clinton, A Democratic Candidate for Congress

Clinton Mayor Janice Kovach spoke about her background and goals.

Janice Kovach, Mayor of Clinton, and Democratic candidate for Congress (NJ 7th Congressional District), spoke to the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance on Wednesday, February 19th about her candidacy. The Alliance enthusiastically approved of her talk and candidacy.

She characterized herself as moderate, able to work with anyone, who is focused on getting things done. As the Democratic Mayor of Clinton with a town council of all Republicans and the Hunterdon County government dominated by Republicans, Mayor Kovach has shown her bipartisan skills in accomplishing much for the Town of Clinton. She is proud of her work identifying infrastructure issues and addressing the long term needs.. In the meantime, programs that continue to share resources and services with surrounding municipalities allows for all to benefit in managing municipal budgets with a two percent cap. This attitude of working with anyone to fix problems and her business savvy approach is what she wants to bring to Washington.

On the national level, she has been very disappointed in the extreme rightward turn of her Republican opponent, Leonard Lance (whom she considers a friend), as well as the extreme partisan bickering in Washington. Topics Janice touched on included her support for an increase in the minimum wage, noting that the many of the low wage earners are women, a national Educational Policy that starts with preschool, and the scourge of drugs in the community.
