Democratic Alliance Update - Dinner Club with John Reddan on May 2nd

Details on HDA Dinner Club May 2 with John Reddan who is running in the Democratic Primary for nomination to Hillsborough Township Committee.

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance welcomed Detective Sgt. Doug Brownlie from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Public Information Office as guest speaker at the April 3 Alliance monthly meeting,  just prior to a very successful Somerset County gun buyback weekend.

Mr.Brownlie gave an excellent presentation not only about the gun buyback program, but also answered questions about other law enforcement and safety issues such as local suicide rates and teen drug use. The Prosecutor’s Office is very pro-active in understanding root causes for many juvenile and  adult crimes and delivered a really well prepared, non-partisan and interesting presentation.

After watching the events unfold in Boston last week, it’s ever so important that citizens understand the function of regional law enforcement agencies.  The Alliance will be having additional interesting and pertinent programs at future meetings.

The Alliance will hold its next Dinner Club on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7 p.m. at Zio’s Trattoria and Pizzeria in Hillsborough.  Special guest will be Alliance member Joh Reddan, Democratic Primary candidate.

This will be a chance for us to get to know John a little better, meet other local Democrats, discuss the issues facing Hillsborough, and discuss the upcoming primary campaign. There will also be a small raffle and a few giveaways, and expect to have a lot of fun.  Cost is $35/person and includes a full Italian buffet meal.

Anyone interested in attending please contact james.bergstrom@comcast.net.  You can also find more information on the May 2nd Calendar of Events here on the Patch.   Admittance will also be available at the door. A good crowd is expected, and everyone is reminded that the Primary Election is on June 4th.

The Alliance plans to continue to have many interesting speakers and events at its monthly meetings in 2013, encouraging like-minded individuals to share in the camaraderie of fellow Democrats and progressives. Focusing on transparency and accountability in local government, the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance provides all participants with the opportunity to discuss the issues facing Hillsborough, the region and state and the US as a whole.
