Hillsborough Junior Wrestling Goes to 2-0 in Central Jersey, Raritan Valley Wrestling Leagues

Hillsborough Junior Wrestling goes to 2-0 in Central Jersey, Raritan Valley Wrestling Leagues with three combined wins this weekend.

In its first Central Jersey league matches of the year, our Varsity team soundly defeated its opponents to begin the season 2-0. In their first matchup the Varsity Raiders made quick work of the host team New Providence with a 72-18 victory. In the second bout of the day, our Varsity Raiders put together another strong effort while defeating Plainfield/N. Plainfield, 75-21. Cole Psemeniki and Jack Boylan both collected a pair of pins each to lead the team, but strong efforts were delivered by everyone. The Varsity team travels next to Kenilworth on Thursday December 20th for what should be a very close match.

Our JV team was also in action this weekend against the Mini-Mountaineers from Bernardsville. With several starters out of the lineup dealing with sickness, the JV Raiders held on to a hard fought 45-43 victory and ran its record to 2-0.  Matt Ciattarelli recorded a pin and there were key wins by Joe Witcowski, Mike Lalor and Brain Bessesparis. Nick Klementowicz lost a hard fought bout in overtime, but his efforts fighting out of a headlock saved the team 3 points that were instrumental in the win. The JV Raiders will travel next to Bound Brook on Saturday, December 22 for their next match.
