Jr. Raiders Varsity Team Remains Undefeated with 3-0 Record

Both the Jr. Raiders JV and Varsity teams defeat the North Hunterdon Jr. Lions on Saturday, September 22nd.

Varsity (Grades 7-8)

The Hillsborough Jr. Raider Varsity offense put up 192 yards on the ground on 19 carries and 61 yards in the air on 4 passes and scored 4 times to defeat North Hunterdon, at North Hunterdon HS, by a score of 38-0 on September 22nd.  Kyle Kauffman got the offense rolling on the first series with a 62 yard TD run.  Luke Yakely kept it rolling on the 2nd series with a 50 yard TD run of his own.  On the next series, Samari Springs caught a 59 yard pass from his brother Skyler Springs and was knocked out at the 2 yard line.  Greg Alboum capped off the drive with a 2 yard TD run.  Kent Hilden had 4 carries for 35 yards and Brandon Moore scored the 4th offensive TD of the night.  The defense dominated the play all night forcing 3 turnovers on interceptions by Jackson Parham, Josh McDevitt and Joe Schultz, who returned it for a TD of his own.  The defense was led by Steven Rudd, Kauffman, Anthony Lobelo, Moore, DeAndre Curtis and Greg Alboum.  Luke Yakely also returned a punt 60 yards for a TD.   Varsity’s game MVP was Luke Yakely.  The Jr. Raider Varsity team remains undefeated with a 3-0 record.

Junior Varsity (Grades 5-6)

Under threatening skies in Annandale, NJ, the Jr. Raiders JV team proved to be too much for the North Hunterdon squad. The Jr. Raiders ran away from the Jr. Lions 35-0 behind a season high 282 yards rushing. The ground game was led by Dylan Boczon with 100 yards and 2 TDs, Brian Reilly with 62 yards and 1 TD, and Ryan Gemignani with 46 yards and 1 TD. Alex Marsh also added a TD late in the game and Matt Popadiuk threw for an extra point.  The defense pitched it’s first shut out of the season holding the Jr. Lions to just 28 total yards. The stout group was led by T. J. Schultz with two interceptions; Chris Zickert (4 tackles, two for loss and a forced fumble); Michael Swetz (4 tackles and a fumble recovery), and Jonathan Seaton (2 tackles, one for loss). Next week the Jr. Raiders travel to Watchung Hills to face the 3-0 Jr. Warriors JV squad.
