The Hillsborough High School marching band is proud to sponsor the 2012 Marching Band Festival. This band festival will be held on Saturday, October 13th at the High School Football field. The entrance fee is $10, students and seniors $8.Hillsborough will be hosting 20 different high school bands, with smaller bands performing early in the afternoon and larger schools performing in the evening. This competition allows marching bands the chance to evaluate their own by using the judges’ critiques to adjust their programs. It's also a great opportunity for marching band camaraderie and a wonderful afternoon of music and pageantry. The performances will begin at 2:30 pm, with Hillsborough performing at approximately 8:45 pm. Hillsborough Raiders Marching Band will take the field with their performance entitled “The Edge.” The music is an original composition based upon the poem 'Come to the Edge' by Christopher Logue. Both students and adults marvel at the creativity and precision of each bands performance. It's a wonderful afternoon out for the family, with great music, spectacle and food. Over the past few years, Hillsborough's reputation has grown under the direction of Jules Haran and it is now a Group V band with112 members strong. Raider Marching Band members learn the values of strong work ethic, accountability, responsibility, leadership, sacrifice, and pride in a positive competitive environment. Spectators can come any time during the Festival and it's especially inspiring for budding musicians at Hillsborough Middle School and the elementary schools.
