Woods Road Students' Efforts Lead to New Recess Fun

Organize and conduct fundraisers to construct Ga-Ga pit at school.

A group of Woods Road School set out to help raise money for some of the less fortunate students in the community, then set their sights on a bigger project for their school.

Parent Barb Monte said the students held various fundraisers and events to raise money to give back to their school and the community. Much of the proceeds of their efforts provided books, pajamas, backpacks and school supplies to those less fortunate.

Then, they pushed on to raise enough additional money to construct a Ga-ga Pit at their school for enjoyment by all the Woods Road School students. Ga-ga is similar to dodgeball, but played inside a hexagonal area, with contact limited to below the knees.
