Rotary Club Members Begin Month-Long Awareness Project

Learn about local group's history, members and projects this month.

Since 1955, Hillsborough's Rotary Club has been busy fulfilling the international organization's mandate of "Service above Self," helping local residents in need and participate in larger, international projects.

Watch for members of the local club to talk up the club's many projects during January, which Rotary International has declared Rotary Awareness Month for its more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in 200 countries.

The club, which meets every Wednesday evening at Pheasants Landing Restaurant, welcomes new members to join in its many projects. In 2013, those projects included organizing an airshow at Central Jersey Regional Airport, present dictionaries to all third-grade students in Hillsborough and Manville schools, organize a packing event for Operation Shoebox, and the annual Rotary Fair in August.

Hillsborough Patch will feature stories on the club, its members and history this month to help the awareness project.
