Hillsborough Coach Named Giants' 'Coach of the Week'

Casey Ransone has the St. Joe's Falcons off to a flying start in his first year as head coach.

Hillsborough resident Casey Ransone, head coach at St. Joseph High School, in Metuchen, was named "The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week" by the New York Giants.

The Giants award the honor each week to support and recognize football's youth programs. "The selection is based on the coach’s continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and his overall community involvement," according to the announcement by the Giants.

As this week's coach, Ransone will receive $1,000 for his high school program—which is in the midst of a perfect season at 6-0—and a certificate signed by Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. His selection will also be announced at Giants Stadium during the Nov. 10 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Ransone, 32, has been coaching at St. Joe's for three years, and is in his first year as head coach. Previously, he was assistant coach at Immaculata, where he graduated in 1999. He also coached at Elizabeth High School under Chet Parlavecchio, now linebacker coach for the Tennessee Titans.
