High School to Senior Groups Receive Credit Card Program Grants

Funding from affinity credit card program for local non-profits tops $27,000.

Five different youth, senior and non-profit organizations all received grant awards through the Hillsborough Rewards Visa Credit Card Program at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting. 

Representatives from the organizations were present to accept the ceremonial check presented by Deputy Mayor Doug Tomson and members of the Credit Card Advisory Committee Toni Natale, Linda Anderson and Fred Gladstone, as well as Jim Borelli, of Affinity Federal Credit Union.  

The total amount awarded Tuesday evening was $3,425 which brought the total awards for 2013 to $12,154.  Since inception the Hillsborough Rewards Card has issued a total of $27,073 in grants to youth, senior and local non-profit organizations.  

The recipients of this round of grants included the Hillsborough High School Robotics Team, the Hillsborough Senior Center, the Resource Center of Somerset County and the Hillsborough Rockets and Rockette.

“This is a great program for our local organizations that quality and it is a win-win, since it does not come with any expense to our Hillsborough taxpayers,” Tomson said.  

He thanked the Credit Card Advisory Committee for their continued efforts in promoting the program and reviewing all of the applications.  He further highlighted all of the individuals and businesses that have secured and use the Hillsborough Rewards Credit Card. 

“It is through the continued usage on the rewards card that make these grant awards possible and for that we thank you,” Tomson added.
