Non-Profits, Senior Groups Can Apply for Township Grants

Applications for year's second round of grants from credit card program will be taken until Sept. 30.

The Hillsborough Township Credit Card Advisory Committee opened the application process for grant applications on Sept. 3rd for its second round of grants this year.

Committeewoman and Liaison to the Credit Card Advisory Committee Gloria McCauley said, “We are happy to open the application process for our non-profit senior and youth organizations to apply for grants through the Credit Card Rewards Program.”

This grant application process is open through Sept. 30, 2013.

Applications can be found online at the township website or at the Municipal Clerk / Administrator’s office. Completed applications must be returned to the Municipal Clerk / Administrator’s office by Sept. 30, to be considered for funding.

“This is always a great opportunity to have the non-profit groups apply for funds raised through the Hillsborough Rewards Card," McCauley said. "It is such a great program because we are helping out organizations within the community through the rewards program and at no expense to the taxpayers of Hillsborough."

The credit card program allows individuals to sign up for a special Hillsborough Township reward credit card and a percentage of the amount of usage on the card is returned to the Hillsborough Credit Card trust fund, where it is distributed to various non-profit senior citizen groups and youth organization through the grant application process. For 2012, a total of $7,830 was awarded through 12 different grants.

Since inception, the Hillsborough Rewards Card through the Affinity Federal Credit Union has awarded a total of $23,649 to Hillsborough non-profit, youth and senior organizations.

“As always, I thank this committee for their efforts and we will look forward to awarding the grants again in October,” Mayor Frank DelCore said. “If you don’t already have the Hillsborough Rewards Credit Card, stop by the Affinity Federal Credit Union or visit their website and sign up for one and help this program grow.”
