Last Chance to Join Neighbors at Steps Together Run/Walk

New local non-profit gets off to a fast start building with friends, neighbors—and former classmates.

Sunday's Steps Together Run/Walk has already made one of its goals. While the project has more than 200 registered participants has raised over $25,000, the goal the group has is to build a strong local network to help provide support to families with a member battling cancer.

The organization is still in its infancy, barely a year old, but has built a strong network by connecting longtime Hillsborough residents, united in the concept.

Dentist Laura Lapinsky has been a strong supporter of the project, which was started by her fellow Hillsborough High School alum, Courtney Newman.

"I just like what that's about," Dr. Lapinsky said. "It's just really cool to be a part of this group."

While Dr. Lapinsky and Newman and several of the other founding members have roots in Hillsborough, anyone is welcome to join the "cool group" that's helping support eight area families and community groups such as BoroSafe. Today is the deadline to register for Sunday's event online, which can be done online.

Sunday's Run/Walk follows a basket auction held in August, which helped raise funds for the group's targeted beneficiaries, including Millstone toddler Billy Biviano.
