Democratic Alliance Forum on Open Space Tax Diversion Ballot Initiative

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance will meet on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, beginning at 6:45 PM at the Avalon Assisted Living Center, 393 Amwell Road, Hillsborough.  Representatives from BoroGreen, the Sourlands Conservancy, and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association have been invited and are expected to participate in a forum on the November ballot initiative that would allow the Township Committee to divert up to 20% of the tax money that is received every year for acquisition of open space land to the development of open space lands.  What the money would be used for is somewhat vague in the initiative.  The Forum will discuss the initiative, the role and purposes of open spaces in Hillsborough, and will consider the position of the Alliance on this ballot initiative.  While this is a non-partisan issue, the organizations raising the issues deserve to be heard by all community-focused organizations, such as the Alliance.

All Democrats and others are welcome to attend.  After the Forum, there will be a brief open discussion of the candidate choices and logistics for the upcoming August 13th Special Democratic Primary for US Senate.

Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 6:45.
