Zumba and 'Anna Karenina' This Week at HIllsborough Library

Library will be closed Monday, but there's lots happening this week.

The Hillsborough Library will be CLOSED on Monday, February 18 in observance of President’s Day.

Teen Tech Week Kickoff: PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST! - Grades 6-12 
Celebrate Teen Tech Week this March by participating in our teen photography contest! Demonstrate your tech savvy by sumitting 1 photo that has been manipulated using any photo editing app. Photos will be displayed in the library and voted upon by our patrons. Prizes will be awarded! The contest runs Friday, March 1 through Thursday, March 28. Visit the Teen Center at the Hillsborough Library for more details, or stop by or call the Children's Desk. 

Summer Teen Volunteer Program Sign-Ups Begin! 
Looking for a way to earn some community service hours this summer? Love the library? Then be on the lookout for some of our exciting volunteer opportunities available for students entering Grades 8-12 in Fall 2013! Applications and information will be available in the Teen Center starting March 1! Applications will be due no later than Saturday, April 27!

Adult Services Programs from February 18 through March 2:

Zumba®! – February 19 at 7 p.m. and February 25 at 7 p.m. 
As long as you're moving and having fun, there is no wrong way to Zumba! Enjoy yourself while exercising using easy-to-follow dance moves. Please remember to bring water and to wear comfortable clothing. 
Afternoon Movie: Anna Karenina – February 20 at 1:30 p.m. 
Starring Keira Knightley, Aaron Johnson, Jude Law - Rated R 
ESL Conversation Group – February 25 at 7 p.m. 
Sign up for our mixed gender ESL Conversation Group sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers. 
The program runs through May 20, 2013. Must know basic English. 
ABC’s of DNA: Genetic Genealogy and Personal Genomics – February 26 at 7 p.m. 
Walter Choroszewski shares his personal experiences using DNA testing for Genealogy and Medical purposes. As a former science educator Walter will help unravel the often confusing acronyms and terms associated with DNA. He will review companies offering DNA testing and show you how to use this tool to discover the treasures hidden in your own DNA ! 
Friday Night Movie: Argo – March 1 at 7 p.m. 
Starring Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston & John Goodman – Rated R. 

Youth Services Programs from February25 through March 2:

Kindermusik with Ms. Jenni – Newborn to 3 years – February 25 at 10 a.m. 
Join Kindermusik's Ms. Jenni for quality entertaining music that helps your child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, nurturing, family-friendly setting. 
Early Reader Book Club – Grades K-2 – February 26 at 4 p.m. 
An exciting program for brand-new readers! At each program we will discuss the book, do some activities and make a craft. Please be sure to read the book before the program. Copies will be available at the Children's Desk. This program: 'Put Me in the Zoo' by Robert Lopshire 
Preschool Book Club – For Parents and Children Ages 3-5 – February 27 at 10 a.m. 
Join us as we read books by Doreen Cronin and share book-related activities. 
Crafts for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s – February 28 at 10 a.m. 
Have fun making a craft with your preschool or kindergarten child! This week: Celebrate Dr. Seuss! 
Lego Buddies – Entering Grades 8-12 – February 28 at 3:45 p.m. 
We are looking for reliable teen volunteers entering Grades 8-12 to provide assistance during our Lego Club programs. You must register for each individual session. Volunteers will earn community service hours for their attendance. Space is limited to 4 volunteers per session! 
Lego Club – Entering Grades 1-5 – February 28 at 4 p.m. 
If you are into Legos, stop by and hang out with some other Lego-maniacs! Have fun building together. 
Story and Craft: Seuss Craftacular! - Ages 2-6 – March 1 at 10 am & 11 am and March 2 at 10 am 
Listen to a story and create a craft to take home! 
Special Event: Critical Thinking Challenge – Grades 2-5 – March 2 at 2 p.m. 
Get involved in some S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) events during Technology Innovation Week! Are you up for a Critical Thinking Challenge? Eye Level Learning Center of Hillsborough will host this event. “Think outside the box” through a series of fun, exciting brain teasers with emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. Prizes will be awarded!
