Wertsville Road Closure Could End Early, County Says

An early completion is anticipated in the middle of October.

There could be some good news for those who wish to use Wertsville Road between Amwell Road and Long Hill Road.

The stretch, which has been closed since July 10 due to bridge work, may be opening earlier than originally forecast. A construction projects update released on the Somerset County website said an early completion of the project is anticipated at the beginning of October.

The duration of the closure was set to last 124 days, according to the announcement. A detour has been in effect, as work is being done to replace three bridges, with one being closed at a time.
