Suicide Prevention Resources From Boro SAFE

May is Mental Health Month and school district group is providing important information.

As Mental Health Month comes to a close, group Boro SAFE (Suicide Awareness For Everyone) is reminding the community that suicide is a public health issue and there are many local and national resources for individuals to find information, advice and treatment.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a free 24/7 service that can provide individuals and those around them with support and local resources. To access help, please call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Boro SAFE advises individuals to seek help if you or someone you know is exhibiting suicide warning signs. Some lesser known signs include:

  • Talking about being a burden to others
  • Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs
  • Withdrawing or feeling isolated
  • Feeling hopeless
  • Sleeping too little or too much
  • Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge
  • Displaying extreme mood swings

These warning signs and others are associated with suicide but may not be what causes a suicide.

If you or someone you know is exhibiting signs, please seek help as soon as possible.

May as Mental Health Month began in 1949 to raise awareness of mental health conditions and mental wellness for all.

Boro SAFE will also hold . The forum will provide local business owners, community leaders, clergy, physicians, educators and parents with information on the role each can play in educating and providing awareness regarding suicide prevention to the Hillsborough community. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
