UPDATE: Schools Closed Due to Weather Concerns

After first declaring a two-hour delay, district officials closed schools at 6:50 a.m.

Winter weather first had Hillsborough Schools opening two hours later than normal, but district officials cancelled school by 6:50 a.m.

It is the second snow day the district has used this year.

The National Weather Service predicts snow, sleet and freezing rain before turning over to all rain by Tuesday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Somerset and Hunterdon counties until noon, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow began Monday night with 1 to 4 inches expected before mixing with and changing to sleet and freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service.
