Adult Services Programs from April 22 through May 4:

ESL Conversation Group – April 22 and April 29 at 7 p.m.
Sign up for our mixed gender ESL Conversation Group sponsored by Somerset County Literacy Volunteers. 
The program runs through May 20, 2013. Must know basic English. 
Book Discussion: "On the Road" – April 22 at 1:30 p.m.
"On The Road" by Jack Kerouac is the book that launched the Beat Generation and remains the bible of that literary movement. Its publication in 1957 was a wake-up call to the American public , and a harbinger of the radical changes that would soon sweep society in the 1960s. Join us for a discussion of this groundbreaking novel. Refreshments will be provided.
Introduction to Facebook – April 23 at 2 p.m.
This class will provide an introduction to using Facebook personal pages. A limited number of library laptops are available for the attendees' use. 
Introduction to Goodreads – April 24 at 2 p.m.
This class will provide an introduction to the popular book lovers social media website, Goodreads. A limited number of library laptops are available for the attendees' use. 
Job Searching Using the Internet – April 24 at 7 p.m.
This class will explore how to locate employment positions using Internet Web Sites and Library Databases.  A limited number of library laptops are available for use, but you are invited to bring your own or just observe.
Afternoon Movie: "Life of Pi" – May 1 at 1:30 p.m.
Starring:  Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Adil Hussain. Rated PG 
Reimagining Our Watershed: A Renaissance on the Raritan – May 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The Raritan Economic Development Committee, in conjunction with the Rutgers E.J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and the Sustainable Raritan River Collaborative will present the film, 'Reimagining Our Watershed: A Renaissance on the Raritan'. This film features projects and organizations from all areas of the Raritan, South Branch, The Upper Raritan and the Lower Raritan, and many tributaries too. Dr. Judy Shaw, Director of the Raritan River Initiative, will provide comments. We will also share the story of one very special project - the restoration of fish runs through the removal of two obsolete dams on the river. John Jengo, Principal Hydrologist with MWH Global will give remarks. Light Refreshments will be served.

Kindermusik with Ms. Jenni  – Newborn to 3 years – April 29 at 10 a.m.
Join Kindermusik's Ms. Jenni for quality entertaining music that helps your child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, nurturing, family-friendly setting.
Stories for 4s, 5s and 6s: Bugs – April 29 at 1 p.m.
A fun family storytime! No registration required.
Tail Waggin’ Tutors – Grades K-4 ONLY – April 29 at 4 p.m.
This is Therapy Dog International's Program: Children Reading to Dogs! Spend time reading to Xena, a TDI certified dog! Each registered child will get 10 special minutes practicing reading skills while Xena listens. Online registration is NOT available for this program – call or stop by the Children’s Desk. Please arrive early – if you are late for your time slot you will lose your spot! 
Toddler Time for 2s and 3s: Ducks  – April 30 at 10 a.m. 
Introduce the pleasure of books to your child! Join us for stories, songs & more. 
Rhyme Time for ages newborn to 24 months – April 30 at 10:30 a.m. 
Build brainpower! Join us for 20 minutes of nursery rhyme fun! 
Movin’ Munchkins – Ages 3-6 – May 1 at 10 a.m.
Join us for a creative movement program for the child and parent/caregiver! **Please note: An SCLS Release/Waiver must be filled out and signed by the parent or the child cannot participate in this program. Forms are available at the Children's Desk or online.
Story and Songs – Ages 2-6 – May 2 and May 4 at 10 a.m.

Keys to Unlocking Financial Aid - Parents/Caregivers and Grades 9-12 – May 2 at 7 p.m.
Rana Slosberg of Slosberg College Solutions LLC presents an informative session on demystifying the college financial aid process. Topics covered include: financial aid basics, using a Net Price calculator, financial aid steps, how to increase aid, and how to reduce costs.
Baby Songs -  Ages newborn to 24 months – May 3 at 10 a.m.
Spend time making music with your little one! NOTE: Parents, in order to provide a safe environment for our youngest patrons, older siblings will not be allowed into this program.
Free Comic Book Day & DIY Artist's Station - Grades 6-12 – May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrate National Free Comic Book Day at the library! Visit the Teen Center to browse our free comic book and manga giveaways - 1 free book per teen. Get creative at our drop-in DIY artist's station. We'll have art supplies, drawing guides, and resources available for you to test your artistic skills on your own. Program available while supplies last. No registration required!
Lego Buddies – Entering Grades 8-12 – May 4 at 2:45 p.m.
We are looking for reliable teen volunteers entering Grades 8-12 to provide assistance during our Lego Club programs. You must register for each individual session. Volunteers will earn community service hours for their attendance. Space is limited to 4 volunteers per session!
Lego Club – Entering Grades 1-5 – May 4 at 3 p.m.
If you are into Legos, stop by and hang out with some other Lego-maniacs! Have fun building together.
