Free Water, Ice For Hillsborough Residents

Recycling services have been cancelled in the township.

Hillsborough residents who need water and ice will be able to pick those items up for free in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

The Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy at 402 Roycefield Road will be offering water and ice starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to an alert issued by the Hillsborough Police Department through Nixle.

Recycling services for residents are canceled this week, according to the township's website. The police department advised that services will follow their normal schedule in two weeks.

The township is asking residents to check with their trash removal companies in order to find out what to expect when it comes to their regular schedule. Officials are advising residents not put out any trash until checking with their company.

A total of 35 road closures were still listed by the township as of 8 a.m. on Thursday.
