Down the Shore: Beach Bash, Lighthouse Tour

What to do at the beach this weekend.

Showers may come to the Shore this weekend, but there still is plenty to do if bad weather spoils

The sound of the 1950s will come to the  Friday and Saturday, when the Sounds of the Streetperform  both nights. The concert will take place outside at 4265 Atlantic Ave. and will be moved into the historic Christ Church chapel in the event of rain. Call 732-919-3500 for tickets at $15 a head.

The weather should be perfect Friday evening for the , planned for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at , 399 Brennan Councourse, Bayville. Jimmy & the Parrots, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, will perform, there will be plenty of arts and crafts for the kids, and attendees can try their hand at sandcastle building. The bash will be held rain or shine, with admission $8 for those 14 and older and $3 for kids, those younger than 3 free.

After bringing the big top to Lakewood and Seaside Heights, the Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars brings the  this weekend, with multiple shows at the Robert J. Miller Air Park on Route 530. Saturday show times are 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. while Sunday show times are 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. For tickets, click here.

The  continues this weekend with three concerts. The performs on Friday, performs “Music that Won the War” on Saturday, and on Sunday. All three concerts are at 7 p.m. at the .

The Lifeguard Association of Seaside Heights will sponsor the John J. Boyd Memorial Swim at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, with the race beginning on Lincoln Avenue. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. at Hiering Avenue and the boardwalk. The registration fee is $20, which includes entrance to the beach barbecue, an awards ceremony and a souvenir T-shirt. Non-participants can pay $10 for the beach barbecue and an additional $10 for a souvenir T-shirt. Swimmers can participate in four divisions: the Open Division, High School Division, Masters (50+) Division and the Team Title (six swimmers). For more information contact Lt. Wharfside Patio Bar, Channel Drive, Point Pleasant Beach— Tucked behind the Wharfside Restaurant sits the charming Patio Bar that has been a haven for locals for years. The outdoor patio offers a casual dining menu, a raw bar and cocktails all overlooking the Manasquan River and Inlet Islands.

Friday: The Blue Crew from 2 to 5 p.m. then Enjoy! band from 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday: NJ Party Band from 1 to 5 p.m. then Phil Engel Band from 6 to 10 p.m.

Sunday: Jamie Brown Experience from 1 to 5 p.m. then Moondoggie from 6 to 10 p.m.

JR’s Ocean Grill, 601 Boardwalk, Seaside Heights — Being known as having the best food on the “boards,” JR’s is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done!

Friday: “Holla For A Dolla” Fridays with $1 Bud Light drafts, $3 16oz Bud and Bud Light bottles and select drinks. Music by DJ Encore, Steele, JX & Friends.

Saturdays: “Rock N’ Roll” Saturdays with $2.50 Bud and Bud Light pints, $3 16oz Bud and Bud Light bottles. Acoustic music in the afternoon with cover bands at night.

Sundays: “Lite and Lazy” Sundays with $2.50 drafts of Landshark, Shock Top and Beach Haus, $3 16oz Bud, Bud Light, and Michelob Ultra bottles.

Quelle, 2500 East Bay Ave, Manahawkin — This seasonal outdoor bar is part of the Dutchman's Brauhaus, a long-popular German and American restaurant on Cedar Bonnet Island, just off the causeway to Long Beach Island. Quelle is open from Thursday to Monday from 11:30a.m. to late and has a raw bar and platters.

Thursday: Live music with Collateral Jammage on the deck from 3 to 7 p.m. Beer party with special prices, prizes and giveaways from 4 to 6 p.m.

Friday: German Beer Party from 4 to 6 p.m with imported German and Irish beers, special prices and prizes.

Joe Pop’s, 2002 Long Beach Blvd., Ship Bottom — Joe Pop’s is one of the most popular shore bars and restaurants, consistently voted the #1 nightclub by shore residents.

Friday: $5 Fridays with drink wheel specials every hour starting at 9 p.m. Bitter X will be performing live.

Saturday: The party continues with one of the premiere cover bands at the shore, The Benjamins. 

Sunday: Live and Locals every Sunday featuring The Benjamins. Half-priced drinks and drafts all night, no cover.

— Edgar’s is a great family spot for dinner and also a party haven in the summer.

Friday: Happy hour from 9 to 11 p.m. with $1 Coors Light bottles. Dance party with DJ Joe at 9 p.m.

Saturday: $2 Bud and Bud Light bottles from 9 to 11 p.m. Dance party with DJ Big D at 9 p.m. “Steaks and Suds Night;" free domestic pint with steak purchase.

Sunday: $2 Corona bottles from 9 to 11 p.m. Dance party with DJ Chris at 9 p.m.

 This small and simple pub is a well-known spot among locals and summer residents. You can find live entertainment on weekends and bar games weekly.

Friday: Happy hour runs from 3 to 7 p.m., with $5 pound of wings and pint special until 7 p.m., $3.50 Foster Oil cans and $2.50 Coors Light bottles until 10 p.m.

Saturday: Happy hour runs from noon to 7 p.m. with $1 Bud Light mugs. Live music, no cover.

Sunday: Bingo Sundays with $1 Miller Lite mugs. Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Breakfast specials include two eggs with a Bloody Mary or mimosa for $11.95. 

Parker House, First Avenue & Beacon Blvd., Sea Girt — Operating in its 134th summer, The Parker House is nothing short of a Shore institution. This historic spot attracts party-goers as well as families, and has a raw bar, daily drink specials and late-night entertainment.

Friday: DJ Chopper kicks off the dance party downstairs at 7 p.m., and DJ George spins upstairs at 7 p.m. Downstairs band is Pat Roddy at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: Old #7 upstairs at 3 p.m., DJ George at 7 p.m. Pat Roddy downstairs at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday: Todd Robbins downstairs at 3 p.m.; DJ George at 7 p.m.; Joe Baracata downstairs at 7:30 p.m.
