Bayou Fest Bringing Cajun Style to Duke Island Park

The festival will be held by Somerset County Park Commission.

Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself.

And this weekend is all about a little Cajun cooking as the Somerset County Park Commission holds its annual Bayou Fest at .

This is the 16th annual fest, and it will feature lots of Louisiana fun, with Cajun and Southern cooking, as well as the best Louisiana dance music, with featured performers the VooDudes and Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys.

The festival will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the VooDudes—also known as New Jersey’s own Mardi Gras Party Band—which will kick off the celebration with Creole Soul, Swamp Funk and Bayou Boogie.

The band combines R&B, Latin, honky-tonk gospel, southern folk and more into its Louisiana style sound.

The festival itself will be followed by the weekly Summer Concert Series, when Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys begin performing at 7 p.m., with Creole classics and contemporary Zydeco.

The festival is being sponsored by Magic 98.3-WMGQ-FM Radio.

Those attending the concert are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for seating, and food will be sold by Touch Bayou.
