Hospital, Local Officials Join Care Center Ribbon Cutting

Ribbon-cutting held a week after center opens.

Somerset Medical Center recently celebrated the opening of its new urgent care center in Hillsborough with a special ribbon cutting ceremony June 24.

Helping to officially cut the ribbon for the new facility were Maureen Schneider, senior vice president of clinical program development/chief nursing officer at Somerset Medical Center; Paul Stahlin, chairman of Somerset Medical Center’s Board of Trustees; Mark Caliguire, Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders; Ken Bateman, president and CEO of Somerset Medical Center; Dennis McGill, MD, medical director of Somerset Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Somerset Medical Center Urgent Care; and Frank DelCore, Mayor of Hillsborough.

Somerset Medical Center Urgent Care opened June 17 at 751 Route 206 North in Hillsborough, providing walk-in family medical care seven days a week.

The center treats a wide range of minor injuries and illnesses in children and adults, such as:

  • Upper respiratory conditions, such as coughs, colds, flu, sore throat, allergies, ear infections, sinus infections and bronchitis
  • Nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, urinary tract infections, rashes, insect bites and headaches
  • Minor sprains, strains, cuts, fractures and neck pain
  • On-site X-ray and lab testing services are available.

The facility is staffed by physicians who are certified in emergency medicine, including physicians from Somerset Medical Center’s Emergency Department. The physicians work closely with patient’s primary care doctors to coordinate any follow-up care. Patients and their doctors will be able to electronically access their records and test results through Somerset Health Connect, a website portal that provides password-protected medical information.

Somerset Medical Center Urgent Care is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.No appointments are necessary. Most major insurance plans are accepted. For more information, call 908-685-2513.
