Are Your Kids Up-to-Date in Their Vaccinations?

Here's what you need to know, and where you can get it done.

The State of New Jersey requires grade school students to have certain immunizations to guard against childhood diseases that used to be common, such as polio, measles and tetanus (for the complete list, see the attached PDF).

Also, since 2012, students entering the sixth grade are required to have tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) and a meningococcal-containing vaccine.

If your child needs any shots, you can contact your family doctor, or attend one of the Community Visiting Nurses CHild Health Clinics—the next one is 8:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at the municipal complex, with subsequent clinics on Thursday mornings.
