Weis Opens in Hillsborough

New grocery store gets off to a good start.

It was just minutes after the store's opening, and business was already brisk.

Shoppers and the curious filled the store in the Hillsborough Promenade.

The store opened Sunday in the former Pathmark location after a seven-month, $7.2 million remodeling that upgraded the store's systems and redecorated the interior.

A 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Frank DelCore, Deputy Mayor Doug Tomson and Township Committeewoman Gloria McCauley was followed by donations to 14 local and area groups totaling $15,000, including youth and varsity athletic and cheerleading programs, social organizations such as the Hillsborough Food Pantry, Women's Health and Counseling Center and Temple Beth El, and the Rotary Club and Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2.
