Weekend Activities Focus on Giving Back

This weekend works giving back into everyday activities.

Fundraisers are the trend for this weekend—there are events for school groups, national organizations and local arms of national organizations.

And the events are easy to incorporate into your everyday life, too. Heading out for back to school shopping? There's a fundraiser you can hit on your way home that's looking for school supplies. Need a break from the everyday crazy? Ladies, there's a fundraiser for you and your friends (men: send your lady to this and grab beers with the guys).

  1. You Need to Know How to Give Back: Heading out for back to school shopping? at today, to benefit the United Way’s “Stuff the Bus” efforts. The school supplies collected will benefit those who are less fortunate, so stop by the store, pick something up and bring it to the Kmart lot from 8 a.m. to noon today.
  2. You Need to Know Nature is Hands On: The Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park . The workshop begins at 10:30 a.m. and is $9 a person, so call 908-766-2489 if you’re interested in going.
  3. You Need to Know Your Car Probably Needs a Wash: And the Hillsborough High School RoboRaiders can help. . at . For $5 per car and $7 per truck, they’ll scrub the dirt from your vehicle. The proceeds will go to the team, so it’s win-win all around.
  4. You Need to Know to go Full Throttle: The Manville High School Marching Band . Entrance is free, and there’s food, nostalgia and music.
  5. You Need to Know it’s Lady’s Night: The Bridgewater Commons Mall hosts its The night features shopping discounts at Macy’s, the Limited, Ann Taylor as well as door prizes, gift bags, food and wine tastings and makeovers. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the mall’s center court. Proceeds benefit Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity's Women Build.
