Valentine's Day a Theme This Weekend

But don't worry, we have other options for you if red isn't your color during this time of year.

It’s our second installment of our weekend planner, and we have some great options for you to spend your spare time on.

There are a number of Valentine's Day themed events you can choose from, as well as a home show that will set you up for your spring projects. Here are this week's picks:

1. GARDEN STATE HOME SHOW
Where/When: Garden State Convention Center (Somerset); Friday, 1-9 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why Go: As spring gets closer (yes, we promise it's coming), it's a good time to think about what your home or garden project will be to begin the warm weather months.
Pricing: Adults, $9; children 12-7, $6; children 11 and under, free; seniors, $8 on Friday only.

2. YULETIDE BONFIRE
Where/When: ; Saturday, 6-9 p.m.
Why Go: It's a great time and the anticipation has been building as poor weather conditions has pushed it back numerous times.
Pricing: Free

3. VALENTINE'S DAY STORY TIME
Where/When: (Bridgewater); Saturday, 11 a.m.
Why Go: Children of all ages are invited to create crafts and listen to Valentine's Day themed stories.
Pricing: Free

4. WINE & CHEESE SOCIAL WITH SILENT AUCTION
Where/When: (Basking Ridge); Saturday, 7:30-10 p.m.
Why Go: Who doesn't love wine and cheese? Also, it benefits the Zimmer Preschool and Olam Academy's outdoor playground expansion.
Pricing: $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

5. VALENTINE'S HORSEBACK RIDE
Where/When: (Basking Ridge); Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-noon
Why Go: Why not celebrate the day of love with a ride if you love horses and riding? Plus, it's always a good idea to get out in the fresh air.
Pricing: $28 for Somerset County residents; $36 for non-county residents
