Township Blood Drive Donations Add Up for Medical Center

Did the desire to help—or hopes for Super Bowl tickets—draw donors?

Thursday's blood drive at the Hillsborough municipal complex looked a little different from many others: donors waited for up to 30 minutes to ave a chance to donate.

The drive, organized by Somerset Medical Center, drew a number of residents and municipal employees and after a little more than 90 minutes, had collected blood from more than 20 donors already.

The attraction was easy to understand: not only were the donors helping with a critical blood shortage, but were also getting automatic entry into a drawing for a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII.
