State of Emergency Evacuation Website for People with Special Needs

The Hillsborough Township Committee, during its Tuesday meeting, talked about establishing a special needs registry for those who can't get out during a state of emergency.

The registry would help emergency responders safely evacuate people who can't get out of their town, officials said.

Committeewoman Gloria McCauley said the township is " very serious about keeping our residents safe. We do have some flooding and some other storms that we've had for the past several years and we wanted to make sure that everyone who registers gets out safely."

To register online: www.registerready.nj.gov

To register by phone: dial 211 (toll free)

Registration forms can be obtained at the township Office of Emergency Management, located in the Police Department Headquarters or the Social Services Department.
