Seat Inspections, For Safety's Sake

A nearby town offers free child safety seat inspections.

Last week, a Hillsborough High School junior showed us the importance of safe driving.

While there's nothing today to handle the drunk drivers she addressed in her presentation, there's another part of safe driving to consider: many child safety seats are installed wrong.

It's not a hard thing to do—directions are complicated, those diagrams do not match what's there even though they're supposed to.

Luckily, those who can't make an appointment with their local department for a seat check can get an inspection in Raritan today.

Here's what you need to know:

  1. You Need to Know The Board of Education Meets Tonight: 7:30 p.m., cafetorium.  See you there.
  2. You Need to Know If Your Child Seat is Installed Correctly:   A certified safety technician will ensure the seat is properly installed.
  3. You Need to Know Where to Tee Off: The event costs $150 or $140 for four people, and includes greens fees, cart, beverages and dinner.  Call 908-281-7932 to see if there are still open slots.
  4. You Need to Know About Frogs and Toads:   For songs, stories and more, head to the at 1 p.m.
  5. You Need to Know It’s Zumba Maynia: And it’s almost over!  The month-long (I really wanted to use “penultimate” here but I figured too many people wouldn’t know it) meeting tonight at  7 p.m. Class is free, but water and comfortable clothes are recommended.
