Resolution Run Draws Hundreds on New Year's Day

Hillsborough's 12th annual event a popular start to the new year.

The annual Resolution Run 5K drew a crowd of 513 of runners and walkers for the 12th annual fundraising event.

With warm temperatures (for New Year's Day) but cloudy skies, Run participants made the circuit around the municipal complex and adjoining neighborhoods to help support several local charitable groups and the Hillsborough High School Class of 2014's Project Graduation. A portion of the race proceeds will help support Carol's Cats, Greyhound Friends and CAP Rescue of Hillsborough. 

Hillsborough resident Brain Crowley, 48, set the pace, finishing in 16:43.61, to claim the overall first prize. Other top five finishers included Nick Van Langen, Hillsborough, Robert Stianchi, Hillsborough, Nick Schnabel, Somerset, and Jason Rudich, Hillsborough.

This year's top women runners were Kavitha Manley, of Piscataway, with a time of 19:34.05; Jane Hebden, of Readington, coming in at 19:36.37; and Karen Perlman, of Branchburg, who finished in 19:42.18.

In addition to the run, a popular feature of the race are the resolutions participants are encouraged to post. The resolutions include goals for running, as well as others of a more...personal...nature, such as "Prepare For The Coming Zombie Apocalypse" and "Find Out What Part Of The Pig Makes Pork Roll."

The event is hosted by Hillsborough Massage Therapy, with sponors Hillsborough Podiatry Group, Advanced Eyecare & Vision Gallery, Dr. Barbara J. Tarbell,  Applebees Family Restaurant, Efinger Sporting Goods, Harlingen Veterinary Clinic, Joseph Cioce, Just Subs, Koerner & Crane, Nielsen Financial Group LLC, Petrock’s Bar & Grille, Philly Pretzel Factory, Princeton Orthopaedic Associates, 10 x10 Home Body Fitness and Peapack-Gladstone Bank.
