Pothole Problems Have Online Answer

As long as it's a state or a county road, residents can report problem spots directly.

Residents concerned—or just plain annoyed—at pothole pocked roads have another option for seeing the holes fixed, as long as the road is state or county controlled.

Residents can report potholes on state roads, including Route 206, and county roads, such as Millstone River Road and South Branch Road, to either the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Highway Maintenance Reporting website or to the Somerset County Pothole Hotline.

The state highway website handles problems with potholes, high grass and other road maintenance issues on state controlled roads, including interstates and other highways.  While Route 206 is the only road in town the state controls, residents can report potholes on other state roads nearby, including Route 22, Interstate 287 and Interstate 78.

The website requires the name of the interstate or route and the direction, the nearest exit for an interstate or cross street for a route, the town where the problem is located, the county where the problem is located, the type of problem and an email address.  Comments on the damage and mile marker number are optional fields.

Residents can also report potholes, high grass and other issues on county roads by calling their county’s road maintenance hotline.  The hotline for Somerset County is 908-541-5021.
