Open Spaces, Duke Farms Put Hillsborough on 'Best Town' Rankings

At no. 16, Hillsborough follows only Berkeley Heights and Montville in New Jersey, magazine says.

Hillsborough's open spaces and Duke Farms are cited as reasons why the township is ranked no. 16 among the nation's best places to live, according to the just-published list in Money magazine.

The township has been featured in the list before, but not with this high of a ranking. Sharon, Mass., topped this year's list, which also includes Berkeley Heights and Montville.

No criteria are given for the rankings, but in the comments about Hillsborough, the township's proximity to New York, the Jersey Shore and Philadelphia were noted, along with "the 2,700-acre Duke Farm... which opened free to the public last year for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing."

The magazine also noted Hillsborough's efforts at developing "a pedestrian-friendly town center."

What do you think of the magazine rankings? Do you agree that Berkeley Heights and Montville are better towns?
