New Jersey Division Of Consumer Affairs Penalizes 53 Health Clubs

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs is cracking down on 53 health clubs who failed to comply with consumer protection laws, racking up an estimated total of $283,500 in civil penalties, according to nj.com.

About $165,000 of that total comes from penalties faced by 31 unregistered health clubs, while the other $118,000 stems from 22 clubs who violated State law by offering long-term contracts to customers without a required security bond or letter of credit, according to nj.com.
