Nature Focus of Out-of-Town Activities

School's back in session today, but some kids (and parents) might find the best lessons occur outside the classroom.  Though the activities take place in Basking Ridge, there are several environment-centered workshops for parents and adults at Lord Stirling Park today.  

Here's what you need to know:

1. You Need to Know About Government Meetings: The Township Committee meets at 7:30 tonight in the Municipal Courtroom.
2. You Need to Know They Have Recycle Fever: Lord Stirling Park’s Environmental Education Center invites families and friend to a craft session that uses recyclable materials.  The session starts at 4:00 p.m. and costs $10.  Contact 908-766-2489 to register.
3. You Need to Know How to Embrace the Rain: Another program at the Environmental Education center has children ages four to six learning rain’s importance to the environment.  The session begins at 4:00 p.m. and costs $9 per person.  Contact 908-766-2489 to register.
4. You Need to Know About School Elections: That’s right, election day is tomorrow. If you missed the prior coverage, you can check our budget and overview and candidate videos/articles. We’ll be out and about once the polls open, so expect updates!
5. You Need to Know About Local Government: The Somerset County Park Commission will host a ranger-led tour of Washington Valley Park on Miller Lane in Bridgewater at 6 p.m. Wednesday.  Those attending will learn about park history and native plants and animals.  Contact 908-231-0802 to register or for further information.
