Library Preparing for 'Adventure Time' Marathon

Fans of the Cartoon Network program can create their own cereal combos, watch episodes

Oh my glob – you’re never too old for Saturday morning cartoons! Fans of the surreal cartoon "Adventure Time," on the Cartoon Network, will want to get ready for the library's "Adventure Time Marathon," at 10 a.m. Aug. 3.
Kids in grades 6-12 can join the fun.
We’ll experiment with different cereal combos, watch "Adventure Time" and work on a few crafts.  Come dressed as your favorite character and earn double raffle tickets toward a summer reading club prize!
Also coming in August:  A display by the Hillsborough High School Color Guard
Book Sales:Did you know that the Friends of the Hillsborough Library have daily book sales? DVDs, CDs and hardcover books are only $1. Paperbacks, records, children’s books and magazines are only 25 cents! VHS tapes are FREE! Last Chance July Special: ALL paperbacks are 20 cents each!
2013 Summer Reading Clubs!Readers of all ages will 'unearth a good book' this summer as the Hillsborough Public Library presents its 2013 Summer Reading Clubs! Registration is continuing throughout the summer! Our reading clubs include the “Read With Me” Club (up to entering kindergarten), the “Dig Into Reading” Kids Club (entering grades K-5), the “Beneath the Surface” Teen Club (entering grades 6-12), and the “Groundbreaking Reads” Adult Club (ages 18+). There will be a variety of fun and interesting programs, trivia questions, and raffles all summer long.

Book discussion "Killing Lincoln" by Bill O'Reilly at 7 p.m. July 24.  
In this book, best selling author Bill O'Reilly recounts the story behind the American tragedy that changed the course of United States history. If you think you know this story, you don't until you've read "Killing Lincoln." Join us for a book discussion and light refreshments.
Friday Night Movie: "42" at 7 p.m. July 26. Starring Harrison Ford, Chadwick Boseman and Alan Tudyk. Rated  PG-13.
Groundbreaking Reads - "The Art of Mark Klinger" at 1 p.m. July 27.
If you've ever wondered about the process of recreating an ancient animal in its natural habitat this is the program for you!  You will be amazed as Mark Klingler, Scientific Illustrator for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, reconstructs through artistic techniques, renditions of prehistoric animals.  See the primitive world come alive through art.  Families with children ages ten and up are welcome.
Numerology – July 30 at 7 p.m.
SuZen RavenHeart will teach you simple ways to use numbers and how important they are even when looking for a new home. Numerology presents the whole picture, revealing all the diverse parts of your personality and how they come together to create the person you are.
RVCC Information Session – August 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This information session for Raritan Valley Community College will cover topics about the application and admission process; programs, majors and careers; transfer students, as well as paying for college. Hosted by Phyllis Pitts, Admissions Advisor, from RVCC in program room B. No registration required.
Youth Services Programs from July 29 through Aug. 3: (Registration required!) Kindermusik with Ms. Jenni  – Newborn to 3 years - July 29 at 10 a.m.
Join Kindermusik's Ms. Jenni for quality entertaining music that helps your child develop language, literacy, social and listening skills in a fun, nurturing, family-friendly setting. NOTE: Parents, in order to provide a safe environment for our youngest patrons, older siblings will not be allowed into this program.

Insectropolis presents Bugs on the Go! - Entering Grades K-5 only – July 30 at 2 p.m. OR 3 p.m.
Through a variety of live arthropods as well as pinned specimens, participants will gain an understanding of the structure, characteristics, and basic needs of organisms and will investigate the diversity of life.
Story and Craft: Sun & Sand - Ages 2 – 6 – July 31 at 10 a.m. or  11 a.m.
Listen to a story and create a craft to take home!
Rick Mikula the Butterfly Guy - Ages 6+ and Caregivers – July 31 at 7 p.m.
If you are into butterflies then you don't want to miss this program! Rick Mikula will unveil the mystery of camouflage and the trickery of disguise that butterflies and moths use to escape predators. You will meet some of Rick's live butterflies!
