HHS Alum Charlie Kratovil to Speak at Democratic Alliance Meeting

Wednesday meeting will feature activist, online news editor.

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance will be holding its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5th, 2012 at Avalon Assisted Living, 393 Amwell Road, starting at 6:45 p.m.

Interested and potential members are welcome to attend.

The guest speaker will be Charlie Kratovil, editor of the online newspaper New Brunswick Today (www.newbrunswicktoday.com). He is an investigative reporter, community organizer, leader of successful citizen campaigns affecting municipal and school governance, and challenger on the influence of money in politics. He was previously the North Jersey Coordinator for Citizens Campaign and a consultant for Food and Water Watch, and still leads Empower Our Neighborhoods in New Brunswick.

He was a 2003 graduate of Hillsborough High School and a journalism/media graduate of Rutgers University.

The Alliance encourages those who supported President Obama’s re-election to continue to champion Democratic principles, including transparency in government, responsible fiscal and social policies, accountability of elected officials, community involvement and voter participation. Monthly meetings provide opportunities to meet like-minded neighbors, get involved in the community, participate in local governing, learn from interesting speakers/candidates, and engage in volunteer efforts. The Alliance is also continuing its series of “Meet and Greets” at members’ homes, political book club meetings, and other social events.

The Alliance asks attendees to please bring non-perishable food, toiletries, or paper goods to be donated to the Somerset County Food Bank.

For further information, review the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance page and/or email Meryl Bisberg, president.
