Fishing for Weekend Activities

Watch out, there are bad puns ahead.

Looking for a reel good time this weekend?  Hoping to find something to hook you in?  Or are you just sick of fishing around for some good activities?

Okay.  Puns aside, the Hillsborough Public Library hosts a workshop for beginner anglers this weekend, that covers the basics of fishing.

Where/When: There will be a special school-time performance on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. as well as 8 p.m. performances on Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday. All shows at the  in Morris Township.
Why Go: Because you’ve been meaning to make it to the play all month, but know this is your last chance. Or because you hate Hamlet too!
Pricing: $40 for general admission, $36 for senior citizens, $33 for museum members, $20 for students.

Why Go: Because exhibitors will highlight green building products and services, focusing on healthy living, organic and local food production, and sustainability.

Why Go: Because Triolo will focus on locally grown seasonal foods, recipes will be distributed and, most importantly, there will be a tasting.
Pricing: $20 for members, or $25 for non-members.

Why Go:  
To reel in a lesson in casting, and to listen to stories of the "one that got away!" Free hotdogs, burgers and hats will be available for all.

Why Go: 
To support your local Boy Scouts and ride off shining.

Why Go: 
To drop in, make a great craft and hang with library friends.
Pricing: 
Free. Registration is not required.


Where/When:

Why Go: 
To enjoy laughter and a zany night of improv while helping to send the Odyssey of the Mind team to the World Finals.
Pricing: 
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, and can be purchased at the door.

Saturday, May 21 at  in Bridgewater from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go: 
To "step up" and support The Arc of Somerset County help individuals with developmental disabilities. It's a day of fresh air and a great cause.
Pricing:
 Registration fees are $17 per runner, $15 per USATF runner, and $10 per walker. But fees are waived if you raise $50 or more.

It's a chance to see more than 1,300 varieties of orchids and learn how to repot one of these amazing plants to bring home.

Why Go:  The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots compete against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.  There will be free autograph books and an opportunity to get your favorite players to sign.

Why Go: Because students can learn about the history of the farm, specifically how the Fosters and the farm residents communicated.

Why Go: Because you are a beginner who wants to start running, regardless of age.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at  in Morristown on Saturday, May 21.
Why Go: Because you’re interested in textiles, want to check out a historic fabric presentation, or want to participate in some hands-on history lessons.
Pricing: $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, or $2 for children.

Why Go: Because the tale of Sleeping Beauty will told with narration, the music of Tchaikovsky and ballet.
