Activities Abound for Kids and Teens

Sports, science and more to keep the kids busy

We're learning something about the programs in Somerset County this summer.

Initially, I thought the end of June to Fourth of July would be the program rush for most of the places offering kids' activities. When I was a kid, there wasn't nearly that much to do.

You Need to Know the Cow Says Moo!: offers Registration is not required.

You Need to Know It's the Sounds of Science: presents . The free program starts at 4 p.m. and includes demonstrations and audience participation.

You Need to Know Where to Find a Buddy: has. Drop-ins for the 20 minute sessions are welcome, but if you want to reserve a spot, call 908-369-2200.

You Need to Know Your Girl Can Learn Volleyball: The Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey and Central Jersey Volleyball Academy are sponsoring for girls entering grades four through nine from 6 to 8 p.m. at . The clinic will handle setting, hitting, passing and skill-building drills. For further information, call the Girl Scouts at 908-947-1720.

You Need to Know Where to Go Rafting: The event, which is $100 per person, begins on the Lehigh River with a license guide and includes a cruise down the rapids, a picnic and a swim. Contact 908-766-2489 to register.
