Somerset Freeholders Plan Tribute at County 9/11 Memorial

39 county residents were killed in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Members of the Somerset County Board of Freeholders will commemorate the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 by placing a wreath at the county 9/11 memorial in Somerville on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m. with the tolling of the bell at the nearby county courthouse to signify the moment the first plane hit the World Trade Center in the attack that ultimately killed 39 Somerset County residents.

The placement of the wreath at the memorial, located at the corner of Main and Bridge streets, will be followed by a moment of silence and another tolling of the bell to signal the end of the ceremony that the public is invited to attend.
