Making an Impact, One Leader at a Time

Year after year, Leadership Somerset develops a network of leaders and demonstrates that a small group of thoughtful, dedicated people can make a positive impact in the community.

Adults who live or work in Somerset County are invited to apply for the Leadership Somerset Class of 2014. The goal of the program is to develop an active network of community leaders and to expand participants’ knowledge of local government, programs and resources in Somerset County.  The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 27.

How well do you know Somerset County? You may be surprised by what you discover from other community leaders and subject-matter experts. You can then share what you learn with coworkers and members of your community.

What is your passion? Every year, Leadership Somerset participants complete a class project for the benefit of the community. From the implementation of youth programs, blood drives and financial literacy programs to renovations made in neighborhoods and at nonprofit organizations, Leadership Somerset Fellows have made a difference.

“We encourage individuals who are interested in meeting new people and becoming leadership resources for their communities to apply,” said Freeholder Director Peter S. Palmer, liaison of the Leadership Somerset program.   “Class members enhance their leadership skills through problem-solving, risk-taking, participating in class projects and networking with community leaders.”

Sessions are held once a month, on a week day, from January through November.  Classes start between 8-8:30 a.m. and end by 5 p.m.

Established in 2000, Leadership Somerset focuses on a variety of program topics, including Government, Economy, Community Development, Justice, Public Safety, Human Services, Arts and History, Community Health, Environment, Diversity and Lifelong Learning.  Find out more about Leadership Somerset on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
