Institute for Supply Management Taps Gurpreet Singh

The Institute for Supply Management – New Jersey, Inc. re-elected Gurpreet Singh CPSM, C.P.M., CPSD, CSSBB, as the Chapter President. The board re-elected Singh because of his dedication to the organization, his passion for the industry and his visionary strategy for the future of the profession and best in class standards.

In 2012-13, under the leadership of Singh, ISM-NJ has developed its educational opportunities, diversity strategy and created a stronger synergy between its members. The Emerging Professionals Group (EPG) was created to advance Supply Managers with under 10 years of experience within the industry. The Mentoring Committee strengthened its commitment to the community by hosting a session at Rutgers University to benefit Graduate Students interested in developing their career in Supply Chain Management. Aggressive effort was made to support women in leadership positions and a focus was put on highlighting and educating minority / women owned businesses. For members of ISM-NJ, numerous educational opportunities were made available for best practices in Six Sigma, Contract Management, Risk Management and Disaster Management. In addition, a “Know Your Board Member” program was launched to keep ISM-NJ Leaders connected on a personal level to all ISM-NJ Members.

In addition to these contributions, Gurpreet Singh is a Senior Procurement Manager at Novo Nordisk Inc. one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Novo Nordisk is a leader in diabetic care, haemophilia care, growth hormone therapy and replacement therapy. The company markets its products in 180 countries and employs approximately 35,000 employees in 75 countries. In 2012 Novo Nordisk was named “The Most Sustainable Company in the World” by the business magazine Corporate Knights.

Singh is a subject matter expert on various functions within Supply Chain Management including Lean Six Sigma & Strategic Sourcing for domestic and global markets, outsourcing to low cost countries, Legal Sourcing, Organizational Excellence and Strategic Management. Gurpreet is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, a speaker at educational seminars at a national level and is published as an industry expert. In 2010 Gurpreet was honored with the ISM “Person of the Year Award for Education / Learning” and the ISM “Ray Clayton Award.”

ISM-NJ supports the field of supply management by: conducting regularly scheduled meetings and forums, offering high quality training programs, organizing leading edge conferences and trade fairs, offering self-development opportunities and delivering value added services for all members.
