Before Silicon Valley, there was Murray Hill, New Jersey.

The Hillsborough Public Library will be hosting a special event on Wednesday, June 13, at 7:00p.m.  Please join us as author Jon Gertner shares insightful stories and anecdotes from his new book The Idea Factory: Bell Labs and the Great Age of American Innovation.  The evening promises to be a fascinating look into New Jersey’s Bell Labs, the center of America’s innovative brilliance of the last century.  If our cell phones ring and our computers function, we can thank two men at Bell Labs who, when given the freedom to explore,  invented the transistor…a building block of our modern day technology!  The Idea Factory perfectly captures the thrill of innovation as it takes us to the heart of an unparalleled incubator of novelty and the birthplace of the century’s most influential technologies.  Copies of The Idea Factory will be available for purchase through Labyrinth Books.

Jon Gertner is a contributing writer at The New York Times Magazine and a senior editor for Money and The American Lawyer.

Registration for this event can be done in person at the Adult Services desk, online through our program calendar, www.sclsnj.org or by phone (908) 369-2200 ext.13.
