The crowd tried to beat the heat by staying in the shade during John Nobile's SummerSwing Orchestra performance Thursday night. Despite the grueling temperatures, the orchestra brought the big band sound to Ann Van Middlesworth Park during the third Music in the Park summer concert. The orchestra played tunes from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, George Gershwin, Glen Miller and more.
Music filled the air at Triangle Center Sunday as more than 45 performers and 25 vendors took part in the Third Annual Hillsborough Music Festival. The festival, which was co-sponsored by the Hillsborough Cultural Arts Commission, benefited the Jonah Johnson Scholarship for Children in the Arts and Music Speaks, an organization founded by Hillsborough High School student Nicole Dvorin to benefit autism programs.

About 46 township children swam toward a Guinness World Record Tuesday, as participants in the World's Largest Swim Lesson event at Hillsborough YMCA. "I think they are going to shatter the record," Arthur Soybel, the Hillsborough YMCA's Aquatic Director, said. "Some of the kids have regular lessons on Tuesdays, so they're getting this lesson as the normal lesson." Hillsborough High School's seniors took a cue from Project Runway Saturday night, as they showcased the latest prom fashions at the annual Project Graduation Fashion show. The show and basket auction is a fundraiser for the class's all-night drug and alcohol free graduation night celebration.
