Residents of Beverly Drive and Ardsley Road in Hillsborough are distressed, and a little confused, that a flock of flock turkey vultures has taken up residence in the trees near their houses, Hillsborough Patch reports. The residents say they don't know why the birds like the spot so much, and are a little bothered by their strong presence. But some of our readers had more sympathy for the birds than the homeowners. Some of the snow's finally melted, and it's a bit easier to get around than it was, oh, say, Sunday and Monday. Long Valley Patch (like other Patches) provided several stories about the snow, but one of our alert users noted we missed a useful detail when we told readers roads were still in hazardous Monday. Karen Glassman asked: Exactly what does it mean when NJ declares a state of emergency? Does it just suggest staying off the roads but not require it? I thought there were travel restrictions. It was only a few months ago Patch made a big media splash by hitting a milestone: the launch of its 100th site, Morristown. Well, we've sped past that. Patch now has more than 600 sites (it was 500 just a week ago. Hillsborough was likely the 501st Patch, going live 45 minutes after the 500th site.), serving communities in 19 states. It's enough to make an individual site feel ... almost insignificant in the grand scheme of Patchy things. But we're glad at least some people in the community don't seem to think so.
