It seems to have started well enough—a young couple inquiring about adopting a dog at the Bloomingdale Regional Animal Shelter Society Tuesday morning. But before shelter employees realized what was happening, a 4-year-old pit bull named Sugar was missing and the couple was gone. Fortunately, Sugar was found safe the next day. There are lots of other pit bulls who would love to have someone visit a shelter and ask about adoption. Many myths and misconceptions surround the American Pit Bull Terrier, but these dogs can make wonderful pets. While some have apparently trained this breed of dog to fight, they are no more vicious than any other breed and are actually naturally affectionate and people-pleasing. Many of the animals featured on Best Friend Finder are neutered and up-to-date with all shots. The adoption agencies request a donation for placement to help support their activities. This week's featured pets are available through Rawhide Rescue, both located in Warren.

Since first bred in 1895, Boxers have grown in popularity, thanks to their loyalty and intelligence, according to many owners. The breed is a mix of bulldogs—the familiar English type and a now-extinct line of German bulldogs, callen Bullenbeisser (even a non-German speaker can guess that translated to "bull biter"). According to the American Kennel Club, Boxers are currently the seventh most popular breed, and moved up in rankings just two years ago. Raise your Boxer with care and you'll have one of the best family dogs, as well as home security (many say they respond best to positive …
