Who are you 'sammy' and why don't you post under your real name?
sammy April 02, 2014 at 10:52 AM
Interesting question, you pose... I will pass on both portions of your question since the answersRead Moreha ve been well answered by much smarter people than me. Rather than attack me, why not address the weak nature of your candidates platform? Opportunisitic politicians who seek office using issues such as the proposed OTW applying scare tactics , fearmongering, and ignorant half-truths should really be discussed, not who or whom i am. But thanks for asking. enjoy

And one more thing Bob! your comments regarding the by-pass demonstrate a lack of understanding ofRead Moret he process that finally made a 20 plus year plan, reality... The original plan was to finish the road in Belle Meade , Montgomery, thru what is now Pike Run. Funny thing but your Democrat leadership in Montgomery knew this and yet approved the development anyway. Evey notice why the middle of the development seems so wide in the main road thru it now??? Well , the Democrat Mayor had Corzine change the road saving them all the embarrasment and evetual lawsuits, forcing it out on Mountainview... and as to your other comment regarding the downtown... well, only time will tell , but from what the glass ball says , the center will be a reality ; bet on it!

According to the BOE meetings it's disappointing to see all the voted for and allowed wastefulRead Morespend ing. Although she may be a lovely women, it isn't convincing enough to vote for someone who has the power of a vote that effects not only the schools but the towns taxes which both have suffered extremely. Now privatization. To save money that was poorly spent to begin with. It's sad to see what this district has become :(

She was another of the majority that thwarted any action to take on the Union. Has she ever votedRead Morefo r the taxpayer? NO! Agreed , she has a large following , is a do-gooder and surely cares about enviro issues, but is that what we are voting for? Nice person, who wants to watch over the environment with INTEGRITY. ReallY? Still not enough of a reason to rid ourselves of Doug and Gloria, they are stand out public servants devoting daily hours to the job, nights, weekends and endlessly listening to their constituents, and acting when possible and neccessary. The results are there... we are a Nationally Recognized Town.

i forgot to add... Tom , based on your past choices of supporting Obama , and ensuing disaster ofRead Moreth e Affordable Care Act, why should we follow your advice?

i wrote to the township and they said that only officials can make requests regarding the timing of Read Morethe light due to the money that is needed to investigate the problem. I scratch my head and wonder what kind of investigating needs to be done when it is painfully obvious that the light is just too short. The light I am referring to is the Milestone Bypass light directly next to the Getty. The line starts from almost Shoprite in Hillsborough to the Milestone light. Then on the other side i sit on the way home from Elizabeth. It lets 6 cars go through causing a major pile up on both sides of Amwell road. You will literally sit at this one light for 30 minutes watching it turn over and over. Now due to the Weston Canal Bridge closure the traffic is worse than ever before. Adding a solid hour to my commute both ways. I am very stressed because of this and cant believe that i will have to take this route 4-6 months until the bridge is fixed since i have no other route options. I hope an official can see this and put in a request for that light to be lengthened- 15-20 seconds longer and things could flow a little more smoothly. PLEASE HELP!!!

Jamie - here are two alternatives , i like the odds of number 2 but try both. 1) Hillsborough RoadRead More- L on Millstone - R on Blackwells - L on S. Middlebush - L onto Amwell to Elizabeth. I am sure it will be busy but move better than Amwell at Millstone . Number 2 - longer but faster - Route 22 - 287 exit L at Weston - L onto Cottontail - L onto Campus Drive to Elizabeth. good luck.

Jamie, as Sammy pointed out there are multiple alternate routes. Additionally, it sound as asRead Morethoug h you are talking about the traffic light in Milllstone Borough (Millstone River Road at the Getty)... not in Hillsborough. Both of the roads at that intersection are county roads so your comments/correspondence/suggestions should go to Somerset County.

I used to commute to Cranford. Count on about 45 minutes. You can take 287 to parkway, orRead Moredependin g on time of day, rte. 22. There are pros and cons to each.
Dagmara March 05, 2014 at 02:36 PM
Thanks BoroGuy, 45 min is not bad, I just don't want to be in 1.5hr traffic each way on daily basis Read More;)

Is it even possible to reduce the stigma? You can tell just by the placement of this article andRead Moretha t fact that there are no comments, No One Cares...until it effects their very own family or friend. It is very sad. How can you educate people on this topic if they are not ready to listen. Getting help and staying in recovery should be as accessible as going to the hospital for a medical sickness. Start talking people, we need this to change. NJ has a BIG problem and it could be closer to you then you know.
Annette Ferrazzano Henderson February 19, 2014 at 09:00 AM
If you were only talking about main, flat and straight roads that would be fine. However, when you Read Moreadd in the fact that part of Hillsborough has mountains, hills and one lane bridges that's a whole different story. I wouldn't want my kids riding a bus winding down the mountain on a patch of snow/ice. Would you? Plus the HS starts a lot earlier than some elementary and the middle schools. Perhaps the main roads were clear by delayed opening time but there's a lot that has to happen before the buses make their first stop.
Carmine Iovino February 19, 2014 at 05:40 PM
Perhaps the BOE shouldn't have subbed out the plowing work to the cheapest contractor and the highRead Mores chool parking lot might have been cleared in time. The roads were more than safe to travel and a delayed opening was sufficient.
PatchFan February 20, 2014 at 02:39 PM
Maybe the BOE is out of salt; Heard from a good source that the township has plenty.
LisaO February 18, 2014 at 12:57 PM
I don't see how they will make any "big improvements" if they fired all the staff thatRead Moreuse d to provide Hillsborough with up-to-the-minute news coverage! As far as our community posts: we are not news reporters! It's one thing to post our personal comments on events and issues going on in town, it's another to "officially" report on accidents, fires, road closures, elections, etc. Which is what the PATCH is supposed to do!
Christina Johnson (Editor) February 18, 2014 at 02:19 PM
It's terrific how you all care about Hillsborough Patch, it shows how well Patch has served thisRead Morecom munity. As for this moment in time, Patch is going through a transition. There is a reason behind the things you are noticing. A new and better service is the works. Until then, we beg your patience (or forgiveness).
