Skeeters Rally For Win Over Patriots

The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-4 at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday evening.

Sugar Land scored first on a solo home run by Dominic Ramos (6) to lead off the game.

The Patriots answered back in the bottom half of the first with two runs on an RBI double by Jeff Nettles for the 2-1 lead.

Somerset increased their lead in the second after Freddie Bynum drove an RBI double to left-center to make the score 3-1.

The Patriots rallied to add another run the following inning on an RBI single by Dan DeGeorge that plated Nettles and gave Somerset a 4-1 advantage

A three-run blast by Amadeo Zazueta (1) in the top of the seventh inning evened the score at four for the Skeeters.  Bubba Bell capped off the scoring drive with an RBI single to give Sugar Land a 5-4 lead.

Kevin Villa (1-3) got the win for Sugar Land after pitching a scoreless sixth inning.  Somerset reliever T.J. Hose (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on two hits while retiring a batter. Gary Majewski picked up his 12th save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season will continue at home on Tuesday morning at 11:05 a.m. with Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader. Game 2 begins at 7:05 p.m. and features Bark in the Park Night. The first 500 dogs in attendance will receive a Doggy Goody Bag.
