Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-0 in front of 6,939 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night.
The Patriots jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first after leadoff hitter Jonny Tucker singled, Freddie Bynum doubled, and Tucker came around to score on an RBI groundout by Jeff Nettles.
Somerset broke open the game in the fifth, scoring three more runs on a two run double by Tucker and a sacrifice by Bynum that brought home Tucker on a throwing error to cap off the rally and make the score 4-0.
Patriots starter Justin Cassel (1-3) got the win after tossing seven scoreless innings and giving up only four hits while striking out nine. Kevin Reese (1-1) suffered the loss for the Riversharks, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings of work.
