The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 in front of 6,008 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.
The Skeeters broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI base hit by Aaron Bates to put them on top 4-3.
Sugar Land scored in the top of the fifth inning after Ofilio Castro grounded out to first, allowing Matt Hagen to score for the 1-0 lead.
The Skeeters added two more runs the following inning on an RBI double by Hagen and an RBI single by Iggy Suarez.
Somerset rallied to even the score in the bottom half of the eighth after Dan DeGeorge singled and Jonny Tucker followed with an RBI double to get things started. Freddie Bynum then reached after being hit by a pitch and Jeff Nettles walked to load the bases for Jake Fox, who drove a two run single to right field to make the score 3-3.
Gary Majewski (3-2) picked up the win after allowing a run and striking out one in 1.2 innings pitched. Patriots reliever Andrew Dobies (0-2) suffered the loss, surrendering the game winning run on three hits in an inning of work.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season will continue at home on Thursday night when the Patriots take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 7:05 p.m. The game features a Patriots Top 15 card strip for the first 2,000 fans.
